Wie der "Nikkei" am Dienstag berichtet, wollen die beiden Kreditinstitute demnach im Oktober 2010 fusionieren. Sie verfügen gemeinsam über Assets im Volumen von rund 19 Bio. Japanischen Yen (JPY) (195 Mrd. Dollar). Während die Investmentgesellschaft J.C. Flowers rund ein Drittel der Anteile an Shinsei hält, befindet sich rund die Hälfte der Aozora-Anteile im Besitz von Cerberus Capital Management.
Wie die Zeitung weiter berichtet, soll Norito Ikeda, ehemals President der Ashikaga Bank, als President der neuen Bankgesellschaft fungieren. Ikeda hat früher auch für die Bank of Yokohama Ltd. (ISIN JP3955400001/ WKN 854724) gearbeitet.
